Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose&Throat,ENT)

Department Overview

Our department works to diagnose and treat otitis media (middle ear infections), sinusitis, allergic rhinitis (hay fever, etc.), dizziness, speech and hearing problems and nearly all standard ear, nose and throat conditions, including the diagnosis and treatment of cancerous tumors.  In addition, we work with speech and hearing therapists on the staff to help patients with speech and swallowing (dysphagia) issues, hearing loss (including hearing aids for both adults and newborns) and other conditions, as well as therapies for helping to prevent sleep apnea.

Conditions we treat

General ENT conditions
Otitis media, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, dizziness, hearing difficulties, speech problems (vocal cord polyps or nodules, polypoid vocal cords [Reinke's edema], recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis, vocal cord atrophy, hormone-related speech disabilities, etc.), trauma (broken nose, orbital blowout fractures, etc.), tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess
acute epiglottitis, sleep apnea
Head and neck conditions
Benign and malignant tumors of the thyroid, parotid gland, submaxillary salivary gland, larynx, pharynx (throat), sinus, nasal cavity, tongue and mouth

Tests and Surgery

Surgery
Function-preserving laryngeal cancer surgery (laser procedures, partial excision, subtotal excision), wide-area head and neck tumor removal including reconstructive measures, multidisciplinary therapy with radiation, chemo and tumor reduction surgery, laser treatment of allergic rhinitis, surgical dysphagia treatment
Testing
Speech impairment (stroboscopic examination of the larynx, vocalization function tests, acoustic analysis testing), sleep apnea (simple home tests, advanced inpatient testing), hearing tests (newborn hearing tests, and later, advanced hearing tests, including ABR, ASSR and COR)
