Obstetrics and Gynecology Department

Department Overview

Our department handles all standard feminine reproductive health issues as well as infertility treatments, malignancies and standard pregnancy examinations and care. Our infertility program aims to achieve pregnancy through natural methods as much as possible; we do not perform in-vitro fertilization.
In addition to regular deliveries, we are also able to handle high-risk deliveries, and accept transfers of mothers and/or newborns from local clinics as the situation demands. In order to help build a strong family environment, we encourage couples to take our prenatal classes together, and for fathers to be present at the birth.
We employ the full range of surgical techniques for working with benign conditions, including traditional surgery, transvaginal surgery, laparoscopic surgery and hysteroscopic surgery. For uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, infertility procedures, ectopic pregnancies and endometriosis we attempt to use minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques as much as possible. In addition, for some ovarian cysts or ectopic pregnancies we can employ the recently developed single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS, a technique which hides a single, roughly 2cm incision within the navel) . For submucosal fibroids or endometrial polyps we also perform hysteroscopic procedures. For malignancies, we treat both the uterus and appendages as necessary with surgical techniques, and also can treat cervical cancers with laser therapy. Since April of 2014, we can also operate on early-stage uterine cancer with laparoscopic techniques that are covered by regular medical insurance. In collaboration with our Radiology department, we offer chemotherapy and treatments that include conventional radiation as well as interventional radiology techniques.
