Our Philosophy

患者の皆さまがかかってよかった
職員のひとりひとりが勤めてよかった
と言える病院を創ります
"We strive for a hospital at which every patient is happy to have been treated, and every employee is happy to have worked."

CORE PRINCIPLES

Our entire staff will strive to follow our three core principles:

  1. In the Red Cross’ spirit of humanity and philanthropy, we will provide patient-centric medical care.
  2. We will strive every day to improve our function and role as a critical care institution.
  3. As the region’s major hospital, we will strengthen ties to the local medical community and promote the health of the citizenry.

PATIENT’S RIGHTS

Our entire staff will strive to protect all patients’ rights:
(1) The right to equal access to safe, high-quality medical care
All patients, regardless of their race, nationality, religion, social-standing or other characteristics have the right to receive equal access to safe, high-quality medical care.
(2) The right to the preservation of personal dignity and privacy
All patients have the right to be treated with respect as a human being, and the right to have their personal medical information kept strictly confidential
(3) The right to the disclosure of all personal medical information
All patients have the right to receive a simple, understandable explanation of their condition, treatments and tests, and have this information disclosed to them completely
(4) The right to decide for oneself concerning examinations and treatment options
All patients have the right to be treated with respect as a human being, and the right to have their personal medical information kept strictly confidential
(5) The right to hear the opinion of a physician from another facility (“second opinion”)
All patients have the right to receive the opinion of another physician about their condition and treatment

PATIENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES

To receive safe and quality medical care, all patients should work to build a relationship of trust with their care providers, and they (and/or their families) should strive to meet the following responsibilities:
(1) The responsibility to provide accurate information about your health
You have the responsibility to give your care providers all information you have about your health and condition as accurately as possible
(2) The responsibility to understand your condition, and cooperate with treatment
You have the responsibility to ask questions as necessary regarding the explanation and instructions given to you by your care providers in order to comprehend your condition, and cooperate in its treatment
(3) The responsibility to demonstrate consideration for other patients, and the convalescent environment
In order to permit all patients to receive the safest and highest-quality care possible, you have the responsibility to obey all relevant laws and hospital regulations, and to avoid any actions which could interfere with the treatment of other patients. We reserve the right to refuse treatment to anyone who acts violently, irrationally or interferes with the hospital staff and/or ignores their instructions.

OUR POLICY REGARDING ORGAN DONATION

Organ donation is a procedure in which healthy organs, such as the heart, liver, lungs, or other structures are surgically removed from a donor and transplanted into a patient whose own organs are failing in order to return them to health.  Obviously, such a procedure cannot happen without the generosity of the third-party donor.

Ashikaga Red Cross Hospital meets all of the requirements established by the Japanese government in the 1997 “Law Regarding the Transplantation of Organs” as a high-level medical facility that is permitted to remove organs for donation from patients who have suffered brain death as defined in the law.

In addition, the hospital has put in place the procedures which permit the carrying out of donations from minor (under 18 years of age) patients as well.
  1. In order to ensure the fairness and voluntary nature of organ donation opportunities, this hospital respects all patients’ wishes equally, whether it is a desire to donate, or a desire not to donate.
  2. The legal conditions for organ donation are as follows:
    (1) The donor has prepared a written indication of their desire to donate, and their family is not opposed to donation, or there is no family, or
    (2) The donor has not previously opposed organ donation, and the family has given written permission for donation.
*For confirming a donor’s wishes, written indications can include statements on driver’s licenses, organ donation cards, health insurance forms and other documents.
  3. If the donor’s willingness to donate is stated on their organ donation card or other documentation, and their family also indicates their willingness to donate, then the procedure will be handled within this hospital.
  4. In the case that the donor and their family have indicated their willingness to donate, their personal information will be held in the utmost confidence according to this hospital’s guidelines on protecting patient’s privacy.
