Critical Care Department

Department Overview

The Critical Care Department treats those patients who require nearly continuous care and monitoring with an interdisciplinary team of doctors and nurses.  Our goal, of course, is to help these patients get back on their feet and resume a normal lifestyle as quickly as possible.  With the higher average age of patients and changes in lifestyle in recent years, we’ve seen an increase in patients with severe complications, patients with lower physical reserves and an increase in post-surgical patients.  At the same time, advances in treatment techniques and technology have made it possible to effectively treat some patients who previously we would not have been able to save.

Nevertheless, it is often necessary to treat the most severely ill patients with invasive techniques. Artificial respiration, blood dialysis and heart/lung machines, while effective devices, carry their own risks and require highly-skilled professionals to operate them.  That’s why a dedicated ward for such patients is necessary.

Through continuous study and experience, we aim to improve our expertise and performance, and better help more of our patients quickly return to a rewarding daily life.
